Attorney Dawn J. Lanouette shares insight about civility. The Society of Human Resources Management recently revealed that its study shows incivility in the workplace is at an all time high. More importantly, that incivility costs employers big bucks. Harassment claims, quitting, loss of productivity, increased worker’s compensation claims for stress related illness. As the 2024 Election Cycle heats up, employers are facing even greater threats to peace and harmony.
But the rules about what employers can and can’t discipline are complicated and leave employers often feeling helpless. Dawn discusses what employers can, and can’t, do about speech in the workplace and what they must tolerate, and what they cannot tolerate. She also talks about the risks lurking in the gray areas.
