What made you decide to be an attorney?
I had the opportunity before law school to work as a paralegal at a very prominent and up and coming litigation firm. I always had an interest in being a lawyer, specifically a litigator, but working at that firm for 2 years at such a young age and contributing on some high-stakes, high intensity, commercial trials confirmed that this was the right industry for me. I’m proud that I now have reached the point in my career where I have taken on the role of those attorneys that inspired me that I used to watch from the sidelines.
What is your favorite quote?
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
If you could have lunch with any person dead or alive who would it be?
Mel Brooks. One of the greatest comedic geniuses of all time. He was way ahead of his time and bridged the generational gap in my household by his movies being essentially the one thing my family could always agree on. Plus, I think lunch would be pretty entertaining with a guy whose idea of fun is wearing an extra prosthetic finger when he’s getting his handprint on the Hollywood walk of fame.
What is your unexpected guilty pleasure?
My commute. I have a long commute to and from the office and I find it a great time to decompress. I handle calls, I listen to music, I listen to sports talk radio. Particularly when I leave the office, I find that when I get home I’ve more fully transitioned from work mode into dad/husband mode. I thought I would hate it but it’s been great.
What is a new skill that you would like to learn or are currently trying to learn?
Fishing. I know nothing and my son is becoming interested so I can’t be completely clueless.
Where were you born?
Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, New York
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Do I get an appetizer? If so, a bowl of clam chowder followed by lobster with corn on the cob.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Not enough. I find a pair I like and then I wear them to death. I usually hang on until you can see one of the toes poking through.
What is the last movie you saw in the movie theater?
Minions the Rise of Gru – that’s life with a 4 year old.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how funny would you say you are? Would your family and friends agree?
10. If they don’t agree, they don’t have a sense of humor.
If you were not an attorney, what would your job be?
Probably something in marketing. I feel as though there’s a similar approach to pitching campaigns as there is to litigating a case.
Do you have any pets? If so, what?
I have a dog named Butters. He’s a bichon, poodle, shih tzu mix (so basically a mutt) and he’s the only one in my house that listens to me.
