Over the next 6 months Hinman, Howard & Kattell will be highlighting the 2025 American Heart Association Broome County Heart Walk. The AHA Heart Walk is a major event in the Broome County community and raises funds to support underlying American Heart Association programs and initiatives. HH&K has a long-standing history with the AHA and this year we are particularly proud that our Chief Financial Officer, Mark Mushalla, is serving as the Chair of the AHA Heart Walk’s Executive Leadership Team.
Mark Mushalla is a CPA and has served as HH&K’s Chief Financial Officer since May of 2020. Mark has over 35 years of experience as a CFO and is also a Managerial Accounting Instructor at the local universities.

This year, Mark has taken up the baton as Chair of the American Heart Association Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team in the Southern Tier. As a long time, Broome County resident and avid runner, Mark looks forward to bringing the community together for a great cause!

The Heart Walk is one the American Heart Association’s major events for raising funds to save lives from this country’s top killers – heart disease and stroke. The Heart Walk is designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, and creates an environment that’s brings the community together.

Cape Cod , Mass. – because of the ocean, and the sheer beauty.

What teacher or coach in high school made the biggest impact on you and why?

Jim Caverly, an accounting teacher at Broome Community College. I was having fun, lots of fun and accounting was boring, but he made it clear that you must do something with your life and be a productive citizen if you want any kind of happiness in the future. So, yeah I heard him, sort of.

If you could witness any event of the past, present or future, what would it be?

Wembley Stadium when Queen performed at Live Aid.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Brussell Sprouts chicken and rice all mixed up. For dessert – Starbucks cranberry bliss bar.

Jesus – he has a lot to say worth listening to . Makes a lot of good points. OR Gandhi who would not take garbage from anyone no matter what and stood up for what was right.

If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?

Lay in the grass at Arnold Park in Vestal and be thankful.
