About
Richard “Rick” Miller is an associate attorney in Hinman, Howard & Kattell’s Binghamton Office. Rick is a member of the General Litigation, Personal Injury, Construction Law, Business, Corporate & Securities Law, and Wills, Trusts & Estates practice groups.
Rick received his B.A. and J.D. from Syracuse University in 2017 and 2020, respectively. During his time at Syracuse University, Rick served as an Academic Success Fellow in the areas of Torts, Contracts, and Constitutional Law. He was an Associate Notes Editor for the Syracuse Law Review, an arguing member of the Phi Alpha Delta and Buffalo-Niagara National Trial Teams, and winner of the 42nd Annual Lionel O. Grossman Trial Competition. Rick also served as a three-year member of the Student Bar Association.
Prior to joining Hinman, Howard & Kattell, Rick was an Honors Attorney for the United States Department of Justice in their Civil Division. Rick’s federal practice focused on Aviation, Space & Admiralty Torts Litigation, involving issues such as wrongful death, personal injury, employee negligence, and damaged and destroyed property. Rick has appeared on behalf of the United States in several federal jurisdictions, including the District of Delaware, the District of Maryland, and both the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.
Rick’s community involvement includes membership in the Broome County Bar Association, and he served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Board for the Danielle House. He is also a member of the St. James Church in Johnson City, New York. A native of Johnson City and graduate of Seton Catholic Central High School, Rick is thrilled to live and work in the Binghamton area.
